Summer Camp Staff

We are excited that you are interested in learning more about our work and joining our seasonal staff team! We are looking for mature, enthusiastic, hardworking and caring individuals who role model the principles of HonestyCaringRespect and Responsibility in words and actions, to be a member of the Sherman Lake camp team. We hire seasonal staff for these programs:

Summer Camp:

  • Overnight Camp

  • Summer Camp Support Staff

  • Day Camp

  • High School Leadership Development Program

Sherman Lake YMCA Values and Objectives: All programs are designed to reinforce the four principles of Honesty, Caring, Respect and Responsibility. How everyone relates to one another is the most important aspect of our YMCA camp programs. We role model these behaviors in all of our programs and develop activities such as chapel, prayer before meals, and campfire stories to reinforce and teach these principles.

Staff Performance Objectives: 

  • To connect with each camper quickly and make campers feel welcome and included.

  • To participate 100% in activities; enjoy playing and role modeling.

  • To model the values and mission statement of Sherman Lake YMCA.

  • To recognize and effectively resolve conflicts based on camp values and procedures.

  • To seek out and use camp resources to create meaningful experiences.

  • To work proactively with campers showing spontaneity and creativity.

  • To create a safe environment and create unique experiences.

How to Apply:

  1. Complete the staff application found HERE. For summer camp positions, hiring decisions will be made on a rolling basis. The sooner you choose to apply, the greater the number of positions that will be available.

  2. You will receive a confirmation email that your application has been submitted and shortly thereafter, you will be contacted by a program director to learn more about your experience and interest as well as set up an official interview time.

  3. The 3 references that you provide will automatically be emailed a form to complete to help us get to know you a bit more.
