Qualifications:

  • Must be 17 years or older.

  • Ability to obtain or has current certification in Basic Life Support, Basic First Aid, and Emergency Oxygen Administration from the American Red Cross or certification in Wilderness First Aid.

  • Integrated Education Specialists must possess a variety of skills including character development, leadership development, group work, communication, and  program planning. This position requires a basic understanding of the YMCA movement and the ability to role model the four principles of Honesty, Caring, Respect and Responsibility (HCRR). IE Specialists must have a commitment to working with diverse populations for the fulfillment of our mission.

Responsibilities:

Integrated Education (IE) Specialists will work directly with our local school partners to deliver intentional, experiential programming to students, providing social emotional learning (SEL) opportunities. Integrated Education Specialists will facilitate camp programming for youth (Kindergarten - 5th grade) in both classroom and outdoor settings. IE Specialists are directly responsible for program facilitation and the well-being of students and participants under the supervision of Sherman Lake YMCA Coordinators and Directors. IE Specialists role model relationship building, empathy, personal development, responsibility, and emotion management.

IE Specialist will be provided with an opportunity to grow and develop as youth development professionals. Program specific training programs that are both educational and beneficial will be provided. Applicants will be given supervised opportunities to practice skills needed to develop as a youth development educator.  

This job requires excellent character. The ability to manage multiple tasks and work with a variety of individuals is essential. Good interpersonal skills and willingness to be a team player is necessary. IE Specialist are responsible for carrying out the mission and vision of Sherman Lake YMCA. This position is a part of the program team, and IE Specialists will carry out their responsibilities in accordance with established operating policies and procedures of the YMCA, ACA, county, state and federal agencies. 

Dates of employment:

Positions are available from June - August (Monday - Thursday, with morning and early afternoon programming options).

Pay Rate:

$12-15/hour
