Diabetes Prevention Program

More than 1 million Michigan adults live with diabetes. Many others have prediabetes and do not know it.

If not treated, type 2 diabetes can lead to serious health problems. The good news is that it can often be

prevented or delayed. The YMCA is here to help.

About the Program

The YMCA Diabetes Prevention Program (YDPP) is a one-year, CDC-based lifestyle program for adults at

high risk for type 2 diabetes. You will meet in a small group, either in person or online. You’ll work to build

healthier habits around eating, activity, stress, and long-term behavior change.

Participants who follow the program can lower their risk of developing type 2 diabetes by more than half.

Who It’s For?

The program is ideal for adults (18+) who:

● Have a BMI of 25 or more

● Had diabetes during pregnancy OR

● Have certain lab values
