Day campers will have the opportunity to participate in a variety of program opportunities such as swimming, canoeing, archery, nature appreciation, hiking, arts and crafts, songs, skits, special theme activities and many more surprises! Best of all, activities are designed toward the interest and skill levels appropriate for each age group, and all activities promote the four character development principles of Honesty, Caring, Respect and Responsibility. Each camper will experience success-building skills that last a lifetime!
Traditional Day Camp
For the camper who wants to try it all, Traditional Day Camp offers the widest array of activities and experiences – a little bit of everything! Campers will be put into groups of similar age children so programs can be age appropriate. All campers can expect to experience canoeing, archery, arts and crafts, swimming and lots of other fun experiences. Whether your child comes one week, or spends all summer with us, it is definitely going to be a blast!
Day Horse Camps
For the camper who has a very specific interest in an area, we have our Specialty Camps. These are camps that are not run each session and have limited spots available depending on the type. Below are a list of Specialty Camps available for 2018:
Jr. Robotics Camps
Gilmore Piano Day Camp
Come and play! The Gilmore’s summer music camp is for pianists of all levels and experience. Day Campers have daily small group piano lessons and exploration in technology and music-making with Jazzy Jams plus hands-on art projects. Each afternoon, participate in outdoor YMCA camp activities. Day campers and families are invited back to camp for evening recitals. The week concludes Friday at 1:00PM with a final celebratory recital hosted by campers for their peers, friends, and family.
An audition is required for all piano campers. Day Camp auditions will happen from March to June. Video submissions are also welcome. Students will be encouraged to practice daily at home, after the camp day. Enrollment is limited to 40 campers. Call 269-342-1166, or visit www.thegilmore.com/ for more information.
It is our belief that no child shall be turned away due to an inability to pay. Each year, we raise funds to help parents send their kids to camp. If the camp fees are just not possible for you right now, we urge you to apply for a camp scholarship. Please feel free to call in to our camp office or download a Financial Assistance Application here.
