Fitness Instructor Team Leader

Job Description:

The Sherman Lake YMCA is seeking applicants for a Fitness Instructor Team Leader.

Ideal candidates will exemplify the four principles of the YMCA: Honesty, Caring, Respect and Responsibility. The primary responsibilities of the Fitness Instructor Team Leader are to supervise, train and evaluate our team of fitness instructors, evaluate our class offerings and develop new classes, and to interact with members and staff to promote our classes.  

The Fitness Instructor Team Leader will work part time as needed.

Qualifications:

Experience in Exercise Science or equivalent and fitness class certification is required.
Must be 18 years old to apply
Must have current CPR/AED and First Aid certifications or able to get within 60 days of employment

Salary:

Negotiable depending on experience, certifications and qualifications

Healthy Lifestyle Coach

Job Description:

The Sherman Lake YMCA is seeking applicants for a Healthy Lifestyle Coach.

Ideal candidates will exemplify the four principles of the YMCA: Honesty, Caring, Respect and Responsibility. The primary responsibilities of the Healthy Lifestyle Coach are to serve as initial contact with members, to assess and discover their personal goals and needs and to help them achieve those goals, to design and develop member orientation and fitness routines.

The Healthy Lifestyle Coach will work up to 20 hours per week as needed.

Qualifications:

Experience in Exercise Science or equivalent and fitness certification by a nationally recognized fitness institution is required.
Must be 18 years old to apply
Must have current CPR/AED and First Aid certifications or able to get within 60 days of employment

Water Fitness Instructor

Job Description:

Water Fitness Instructor Job Description

General Function: Under the direction of the Aquatics Director, a water fitness instructor will conduct classes that comply with the standards of the certification held as well as the YMCA’s mission and teaching philosophy.

Essential function:The water fitness instructor must be an energetic, dedicated and motivated individual who enjoys teaching fitness to groups of adults. Must be able to communicate verbally and project their voice across a distance in a loud situation, while performing the workout in water averaging 84 degrees for one to two hours. The water fitness instructor must demonstrate and enforce the core character values of honesty, caring, respect, and responsibility (HCRR) that make up the YMCA’s character development program.

Potential to expand roles as a lifeguard or a swim instructor if qualified.

Preferred a nationally recognized water fitness instructor certification

Pool Lifeguard

Job Description:

The Lifeguard's primary responsibility is to maintain a safe and HCRR aquatic environment. Lifeguards should be able to work a flexible schedule that includes: morning shifts (5:30 AM-10:00AM), mid-day, evening (5:00 PM-9:30 PM), and weekend shifts. Lifeguards are responsible for greeting members and other patrons in a warm fashion as well as upholding all pool rules and policies in fair and consistant manner.  Lifeguards are required to be rescue ready at all times, maintain 10:10 scanning techniques, and attend monthly in-service trainings. Secondary duties include; maintaining a clean and orderly aquaitc environment, record hourly attendance reports, and other duties as assigned.







Qualifications:

Current Lifeguard certification from a nationally recognized organization such as American Red Cross (preferred), YMCA, or  Ellis and associates.

Must be able to pass a pre-employment swim skills test.

Must be at least 18 years of age and a high school graduate.

Must love working with all ages and be able to serve as a professional role model, exhibiting the characteristics of honesty, caring, respect and responsibility (HCRR).

Reliable transportation is a must.

Salary:

Lifeguards: $9.50-$11.00 an hour (based on experience and other qualifications)

Pool Lifeguard Assistant

Job Description:

Lifeguard Assistants are responsible for ensuring the safety of the patrons in the pool area. The lifeguard assistant will be the secondary guard during our more busy times as well as help with small rental groups such as birthday parties. Lifeguard assistants must role model the four characteristics of the Sherman Lake YMCA: Honesty, Caring, Respect, and Responsibility. Must be able to greet members in a friendly manner and punctuality is a must.  Lifeguard assistants report directly to the Aquatics Director.


Typical Shifts:
Monday, Wednesdays, & Fridays 6:00pm-8:00pm
Saturdays 1:00 pm-3:00 pm
Sundays 11:00 am-1:00 pm

Qualifications:

Current Lifeguard certification from a nationally recognized organization such as American Red Cross (preferred), YMCA, or Ellis and associates. Training will be provided to outstanding applicants.

Must be 16 years of age.

Must have reliable transportation and access to digital communications such as e-mails.

Must be able to pass a pre-employment swim skills test.

Must love working with all ages and be able to serve as a professional role model, exhibiting the characteristics of honesty, caring, respect and responsibility (HCRR).

Salary:

$8.00 and hour plus a Single YMCA membership with current employement
