Pilates

PilatesPilates (pronounced puh-LAH-teez) is a series of controlled movements engaging your body and mind, performed on specifically designed exercise apparatus and a mat. It focuses on the “powerhouses” of the body (abdominal, lower back, neck and gluteus muscles). It will help stretch, strengthen, balance and lengthen muscles and the spinal column. Regardless of your current level of fitness, from sedentary office worker to fitness enthusiast, Pilates can be your primary mode of body conditioning and injury prevention. Physical therapists, chiropractors and orthopedists have integrated it into rehabilitative exercise and physical therapy programs to speed recovery of soft tissue injuries.

Group Mat Classes: Joseph Pilates developed his mat work over 80 years ago and our instructors follow the original method to lengthen and strengthen the powerhouse (core) of the body, with an emphasis on abdominal strengthening and spine stabilization. Certified Instructors lead classes at all three levels using the authentic method of Pilates (not seen on TV).  Group Mat classes are included in your membership.

Private/Duet Sessions: Private and Duet Pilates sessions are offered using all Studio Equipment (Reformer, Cadillac, Barrell Ladder, Wunda Chair) and are available by appointment; please call (269) 731-3032.

  • Participants in classes need to be aware that there exists a risk in participating in any physical activity. It is suggested that all individuals consult their physician before beginning any fitness activities, particularly persons with any physical limitations or disabilities or who have been told by a physician to limit maximum heart rate, range of motion, blood pressure increase or other related issues.
  • All classes are subject to change without notice. Please check at the desk for availability. Classes must be attended regularly by an average of five people in order to continue. Classes with three or fewer participants may be cancelled at class time by the instructor.
  • Please call 731-3032 for class descriptions or information regarding the intensity or style of classes offered.
