I am so blessed and honored to be involved with such a worthwhile endeavor as YMCA camp. I was lucky enough to grow up on a farm in rural Minnesota and also attend 4-H camp as a child. Some of my fondest childhood memories are of starting out the morning at chapel on the shores of Lake Pepin with a soft mist rising over the water, standing in line at the canteen for a refreshing ice cream cone, splashing in the waters and screaming when a fish would touch my leg and of course the magic of the closing night ceremony when hundreds of candles drifted away on the lake as a symbol of the unity of that moment in time. It is my honest hope that your children will be able to unplug from the fast pace of today’s world and retreat to the Sherman Lake YMCA camp where they will be able to experience their own magic. Most of my adult life was spent working in administration at a college or university while raising my son and daughter. When I had the opportunity to learn about the Sherman Lake YMCA and the culture of Honesty, Caring, Respect and Responsibility that is embedded through all of its’ programs, I knew that it would become part of my family in a bigger way. I have been involved for the past 15 years and truly feel we have the best staff of any camp program. I want to provide the best summer experience for your child. Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions you may have. Your children are very important to me and I want each child to leave with their own magical memories, new friendships, and a sense of having the courage to try new things, confidence in their new skills and understanding of their character.

It is an honor to begin serving on the Sherman Lake staff team as the Associate Camp Director. The focus on relationships, intentionality of character development (HCRR) and importance in helping campers and staff find their voice are all things that drew me to the Sherman Lake YMCA family.I grew up as a “YMCA camp kid” at Camp Manito-wish YMCA and many summers were spent doing both traditional camp activities (archery, crafts and horses are some of my favorites) and engaging in a progressive camping and canoeing adventures (3-90 days canoeing the Northwoods of WI to the Arctic Ocean!). My passion for the Y continued to grow and I was inspired to make a career of it. I graduated from the University of Wisconsin-LaCrosse with a Recreation Management degree and continued my professional development as the Director of Community and Adventure Programs at Camp Sea Gull and Camp Seafarer YMCA in eastern NC starting in 2006. An opportunity came available in 2009 when I transitioned to northern WI as the Summer Camp Director at Camp Manito-wish YMCA. I am excited so share and grow here at Sherman Lake YMCA.Camping is an impactful experience that has the opportunity to change lives. Sherman Lake’s camping programs are no different. I see true intention behind each piece of the program that is implemented and the strong character of the staff team and campers/students I have had the pleasure of meeting. As a member of the team, I am eager to continue the strong impact the Sherman Lake YMCA has on its community.

When I was introduced to Sherman Lake YMCA the summer of 2006, I did not know that I would one day be a director. Returning consecutively year after year, I found Sherman Lake to be irresistible. I did not want to miss out on the magic that was happening!I am a graduate of the University of Michigan-Flint, currently holding a Bachelor degree in the field of Education. Education can be taught and learned at any point of a day, at any point in life, even at camp.I strive to endow individuals with a good and true experience of school, camp, and life by introducing and/or reinforcing principles, such as honesty, caring, respect, and responsibility, which are essential for life. Such principles should exist within one’s self and be distributed through displaying.Let’s have an amazing future. Starting with the summer of 2014!
