What a great few days with Black Elementary 5thgraders! Oh how the time flies…
The Black Hawks swooped in from all the way across the state (around Sterling Heights). After a lengthy journey, we introduced them to our amazing counselors and phenomenal camp. I’ve seen a LOT of campers come through our doors and this group was particularly excited and happy to be there. It made for an unusually enjoyable visit!
They excelled at all our traditional camp activities (archery, climbing, etc.) and learned all about honesty, caring, respect, and responsibility throughout the fun and games. Even in dodgeball they bragged about how great their fellow classmates were at being HCRR during the game. Thanks to their high character, we played a ton of different variations of the game!
Camp isn’t complete without firebuilding and s’mores!
The biggest highlight was probably Skit Night. Each cabin grabbed a couple random objects (wigs, crazy hats, Styrofoam, etc.) and charged with the task of making a scene to show off to everyone else. A time of wild creativity ensued! We had infomercials about crazy items for sale and jokes acted out to perfection! As a reward, some of our staff performed for them 🙂
Robin Nott came in afterward to end the night with some tall tales and silly songs. We always love having him around. Even the parents got involved!
Which reminds me…a HUGE thank you to the chaperones that volunteered their time to be positive role models to the students. We couldn’t have done it without you!
Thanks for coming out, campers! Hopefully you’ll all be able to make it to Winter Camp this year!
