What a great week with Roger’s Park Montessori School and Mar Lee 6th graders! The weather was B-E-A-utiful and everything bloomed all at once! All the campers took full advantage of it as we stayed outside as much as we possibly could.
Mar Lee’s week included Geocaching, the Tree Climb, boating on the lake, and the Giant’s Swing to name a few. They were all incredibly fun as well as challenging. The students learned a lot about HCRR (honesty, caring, respect, and responsibility) and will hopefully use that back in the classroom.
They finished off their week with a thought-provoking candle ceremony. Emily talked about what our 4 principles look like back in the classroom and everyone shared some favorite memories from the week. Hopefully all you 6th graders will come back to join in on the memory-making this summer!
Meanwhile, Roger’s Park was also able to enjoy a whole week with us. It seemed every single activity was a highlight! Teambuilding, the Climbing Tower, and Outdoor Skills each had some crazy fun to give! Each evening activity after dinner was almost too fun to handle, too! We used cardboard boxes to make forts in dodgeball, we learned interesting facts about their teachers/counselors in the game show “How Well Do You Know Your Counselor”, Robin Nott performed songs and stories at a campfire, and the teachers had a blast hiding in Wednesday’s “Counselor Hunt”.
To top off the week, we performed a number of skits for Thursday’s Skit Night. Each cabin grabbed some props and jumped on stage. They were, in my six years of experience at Sherman Lake, the best I had ever seen. Take a look at the pictures below for a little hint of the fun we had!
Even the teachers got in on the fun! Here they are performing “The Doctor’s Office” skit:
Thanks for coming out, Roger’s Park! Hopefully we’ll see you back in the summer!
